1 Corinthians 13, by Karl Persson

1 Corinthians 13, by Karl Persson

Well yes I am a fan,
(Who wouldn’t be?)
But some days
I wish there were just a little more
About the shyness of love,
The way it hides
In the ache of its own immensity,
Saying far less than its name
Because there’s too much there to say;

Yes, sometimes I want, God,
To see those places in your heart,
Where someone has walked away
And the silence is too vast to weep;

Sometimes I wish, God,
I could know you know
The love too tender to live
Once its name is spoken -
But of course you do know.

You leant down from heaven,
Whispered it in our ears,
And we crucified you.
